Thanks Peter and Jeff!
Jeff , in terms of the platform for internal apps, I know they are likely all going to be open-source. For example, MediaWiki wil be used for developing wiki's. The challenge the CIO branch is facing right now is in procurement of open-source. If everybody owns it, who is going to take the time to answer mandatory government RFP's? As for my workshop, yes I will be presenting in Toronto again on September 18th. You can register on my "upcoming workshops" page via my blog, or by visiting our website www.publicsectormarketing.ca . I'd love to see you there!

great summary ,

Especially the fact that the federal government is working on a policy relating to social networking and the public.

Was any insight offered on the platform or technology being used for the social networks that are going to be used internally? Or is the approach still to give various departments freedom to try their own approach for awhile, then use the lessons learned to come up with a larger strategy (something we are trying to advocate on a paper we are putting out on Web 2.0 government adoption

In terms of your course, (the basic one that is) do you ever offer it in Toronto? I could think of a couple people in our firm would be interested in attending.

Regards
Jeff Anderson

Thanks very much for this summary Mike. Also thanks for your social media marketing workshop - I enjoyed it a lot. I would definitely be interested in more targeted "advanced" workshops. I have a feeling that social media monitoring especially will become an increasingly hot topic round town - as this is the logical first step for organizations who want to get their feet wet in social media. Gotta start by getting up to speed with what people are saying about you online.
