The state of social media in the Canadian federal government

In the spirit of community and social media, I have decided to post up a revised version of my presentation from Podcamp Montreal on SlideShare. It is highly visual in nature and is not really meant to act as a stand alone document, however some of you may find it useful. The topic of this presentation was “Social Media & Canadian Government Usage Examples”. I focused mainly on the Canadian federal government due to limited presentation time and the sheer amount of content to cover. I have embedded it below. Feel free to skip through my intro or browse through it in the 17.6 seconds I always present it in.  Otherwise it looks like a ridiculous self-promotion, which it is not meant to be (it was a personal branding experiment). Enjoy!

  1. Mike – thanks for including our blog in your presentation. Little things like that go a long way to promote our site and encourage our conversations.

    Cheers.

    Nick

  2. Hi Mike, don’t suppose you have an alternate version or location for your presentation? Believe it or not (and knowing of your work with federal departments, I know you will) but we don’t have the most recent version of Flash here and we can’t install it ourselves on our workstations. I’m sure this is the case for many other departments. I hate to see so many people missing our on your presentation for the sake of a software update!

  3. Hey Alain,
You’re right, it doesn’t surprise me…lol! I can send you (or anyone else that is interested) a PDF if you send your email.

Sweet irony – tried clicking on the slide presentation, and was firewalled. Would appreciate an e-mailed electronic verison if possible. Thanks!

  5. Hey everyone, I have updated the presentation on this page with a more recent version that includes new statistics and more concrete recommendations.

  6. Hi to every body, it’s my first go to see of this webpage; this weblog includes awesome and actually fine material
    for readers.

  7. Write more, thats all I have to say. Literally, it seems
as though you relied on the video to make your point. You definitely know what youre talking about, why
waste your intelligence on just posting videos to your blog when you could
be giving us something enlightening to read?
