Blog Transfer Complete

Ok, I think I finally got everything up and running. For those of you thinking about transferring your blogs onto your own domain, I’d say the hardest part was having to re-do all the tags and embedded videos. Other than that, if you have basic FTP knowledge (for file transfers) you should be fine. Please let me know if any of my links do not work or if you have any trouble whatsoever navigating this blog.

Why did I transfer?

For those of you that have been subscribing to my blog up until now, you probably noticed that I was using the WordPress.com domain (mikekujawski.wordpress.com) even though I owned www.mikekujawski.ca as well ( it was simply re-directing to the WordPress domain). The disadvantage of this (other than personal branding reasons) was that I had limited control over the presentation and programming aspects of my blog. I am now in full control of every aspect of my blog (you may see some custom widgets showing up soon).

The only temporary disadvantage is a loss of existing subscribers and initial traffic (the wordpress.com domain has a very high search engine ranking). In order to offset the effects of this, I would like to ask all of my existing and new subscribers to be sure to subscribe to my new blog domain. The two options are as follows:

Cheers!

In the process of transfering my blog…

Hey everyone, please accept my apologies for the ugly formatting. I am in the process of transferring my blog today (Jan 3rd, 2007) from “mikekujawski.wordpress.com” to my own domain here at “www.mikekujawski.ca”.

I’m still having trouble getting the sidebar widgets to work, and my tags to import properly. Hopefully I’ll figure this out shortly. In the meantime, if you want the working layout, please visit my original blog (the main difference is that it’s hosted on the wordpress.com server and the sidebar widgets, tags, and other common elements actually work).

-MK

New website, new look!

I usually try to avoid any kind of work related promotion on this blog, however seeing as how my work and personal passions (leveraging social media marketing to improve society) are fully intertwined, I thought it would be a good opportunity to mention that the Centre of Excellence for Public Sector Marketing finally has a new website. Please browse around and let me know if we’re missing any key components. Or better yet , fill out our quick usability survey. I have integrated numerous rss feeds into the site (including a CEPSM newsfeed), so that content is continually updated and can be viewed on various platforms and devices. If you know of any good links to public sector marketing resources, please let me know so that I can add them to our “community” section. Finally, if you haven’t done so already, please join the Public Sector Marketing Society to stay in touch and network with others in the field. For those of you that speak French, please note that our equivalent French site should be up in the next few weeks.
