Track and filter live event hashtag tweets in 60 seconds

This week’s “Learn in 60 Seconds” video demonstrates how to track multiple event hashtags in real-time and then filter them, also in real-time. The tool is Tweetdeck, which can be downloaded for free. The sample live event I chose for the video is the 2011 Canadian Federal Election, which happens to be taking place as I write this.

Gatorade Mission Control = True Business Intelligence

I know I sound like a broken record whenever I stress the importance of monitoring social media as a form of business intelligence, so instead I thought I’d share this video with you. Surprisingly I only saw it for the first time at the #social2011 conference in Boston, but it’s been around for a while. More importantly, Gatorade has been actively listening and engaging at a strategic level like this for some time. Humour me for a second, and let’s imagine government departments here in Canada had rooms like this set up to monitor their programs and initiatives. Waste of time or the obvious future?
