Canada’s only Public Sector & Non-Profit Marketing Forum

Next week is a big week for us as it’s the second year that CEPSM is running the MARCOM Annual Forum, which was formerly run by CMG Canada (now part of CEPSM). How to find out who’s linking to you in 60 seconds

I have an easy hands-on video tip for you today. Lesson #7 of my “Learn in 60 Seconds” video series shows you how to use a tool like SEOMoz’s Open Site Explorer to find out how many other websites/web properties link to your own. This is a great way to benchmark interest in your properties from a traditional SEO linking sense. It’s also a great way to see if your partners are indeed linking to your web property without having to look through their sites. I apologize for my cracking voice ahead of time. I still haven’t been able to shake off the cold I got a few weeks ago (even lost my voice completely at one point). Slowly, it’s getting better.

Working in Canada goes Mobile

I’ve written about Hidden Canadian Government Gems before. Essentially these are government services that I have discovered through my consulting work, which are not always well known, yet extremely valuable. One in particular is a client of ours WorkinginCanada.gc.ca (part of HRSDC). Essentially, they have created an incredible mash-up tool that allows you to search for an occupation that you’re interested in and receive up-to-date, accurate information from a wide variety of integrated databases. It puts certain private sector fee-based tools to shame. It was initially developed for skilled immigrants looking to work in Canada, however once you try it out yourself you’ll realize that it’s useful for domestic audiences as well.
